Celebrate Diversity Month by Getting to Know Susan, PulteGroup’s Diversity Board Member

Celebrate Diversity Month’ takes place every year in April. In honor and celebration, we’re sparking the conversation with one of Pulte Financial Services’ very own employees, Susan, who is a member of PulteGroup’s Diversity Board.

About PulteGroup’s Diversity Board

Founded in 2020, the PulteGroup Diversity Board includes employees from across disciplines and regions working together to develop, sponsor, promote, and evaluate the effectiveness of our diversity and inclusion work.

As a company, PulteGroup has had the privilege of building homes and communities where people can live out their dreams for more than 70 years. And as an organization, we are focused on building and nurturing a diverse and inclusive workforce. By seeking out and celebrating our differences, we not only get closer to each other, but closer to the customers and communities we serve.

At Pulte Financial Services – comprised of Pulte Mortgage, PGP Title and Pulte Insurance Agency – we are proud to stand behind one of our very own team members, Susan, who was thoughtfully selected to be part of PulteGroup’s Diversity Board. Get to know Susan, below!

Susan C.
Enterprise Architect

What inspired you to apply for joining PulteGroup’s Diversity Board?

Susan: As a lesbian and mother to bi-racial children, I’m very passionate about making an inclusive work environment where everyone can be their best self.  I’m a proud Pulte Mortgage employee, in part because I’ve always felt I could be my authentic self and I want everyone in PulteGroup to have that opportunity.

What does being an integral member of the PulteGroup Diversity Board mean to you?

Susan: I’m able to help move the company forward toward an even more diverse and welcoming place to work. This is work I am passionate about in my personal life and it means a lot to get to do this here as well.

What PulteGroup Diversity Board accomplishment are you most proud of from the past year?

Susan: The board has done a lot this year that I’m proud of including the roll-out of Unconscious Bias Training, monthly celebration resources, and garnering feedback from employees on the way they honor a variety of celebrations throughout the year. What I am most proud of is the way that the board is included and listened to as diverse members of PulteGroup’s workforce.

What are you most excited for in the future related to PulteGroup’s commitment to diversity and inclusion in the workplace?

Susan: First, I’m excited for the expansion of Business Resource Groups to include one for Women’s Interest Network and one for Veterans. Second, I look forward to additional opportunities to learn how I can be a better more inclusive co-worker.

Any quote or piece of advice you live by that you’d like to share?

Susan: “Speak the truth, even if your voice shakes.” For me, this means even when it may not be easy or popular, stand up for what’s right and stand up for yourself and others.

“Diversity is the one true thing we all have in common. Celebrate it every day.”
